Top Ten Reasons to Visit Cabo San Lucas

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Cabo San Lucas has become one of Mexico’s premium travel spots.  It is situated at the tip of the Baja California peninsula where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean.  There are many reasons to visit Cabo.  Here are the top 10 Reasons:

10.  The Mexican people are friendly, helpful and accommodating to tourists.  They are always there to help in any way and most speak English in the tourist areas.

9.  The climate is predictably sunny. Cabo San Lucas boasts nearly 360 warm, sunny days throughout the year. It has low humidity and does not experience the extremes of desert temperatures because of the close proximity of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez. In the winter, days are warm and ideal. Summertime gets hot, but the surrounding bodies of water yield refreshing breezes. With the summer temperatures come warm waters and very pleasant evenings.

8.  It is a year round playground for outdoor activities, including golf, tennis, boating, fishing, whale watching, ATV riding, zip-lining, scuba diving and snorkeling.

7.  The Spa Services are divine.  The Dessert Spa at Villa La Estancia on Medano Beach offers a new 31,000 square foot European Spa with a natural setting.

6.  There are many flights from major cities in the U.S. and Canada, including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, Seattle, Denver, San Diego, Portland, San Jose, Alaska and Ontario.   Most flights are under 4 hours.

5.  There are hundreds of great restaurants in Los Cabos serving everything from traditional Mexican dishes to exotic Pan Asian cuisine.

4. It is home to Mexico’s largest sport fishing fleet and a 300 slip marina where luxury yachts, snorkel boats, sunset and party cruises docked next to fishing cruisers and traditional skiff-like pangas.

3.  The nightlife is “sizzling” offering traditional Mexican fiestas to “rock your thongs off” clubs and a new wave of sophisticated venues featuring guest artists from around the world.  Cabo is home to Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Restaurant and bar.

2.  The Los Cabos area, which includes Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo and everything in between, offers many appealing accommodations to suit any lifestyle.  Villa La Estancia Resort is a premium resort offering privately owned villas and all the benefits of resort style living.

And the #1 Reason to vacation in Cabo San Lucas:

Michael Jackson Dancers in Mexico

Friday, September 18th, 2009

The summer is quickly coming to a close.  As August came to an end, thousands of Mexicans danced to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” clawing at the air, grabbing their crotches and marching like zombies while being led by a Mexican Michael Jackson impersonator who goes by the name Hector Jackson. The light rain didn’t ruin the enthusiasm of the participants, estimated at over 12,000,  who were of all ages. Many turned out wearing Michael Jackson aviator glasses, white glovesand fidoras or had fake blood splattered on them.

This was Mexico’s attempt to amass enough “Thriller” dancers to best the record set in May by 242 college students in Virginia with Guiness. In fact, Mexico brought together 12,937 official participants at Mexico City’s Monument of the Revolution, according to the two certified accountants who were in charge of registration.

“This positions us as a grand city where grand things happen,” gushed Alejandro Rojas Díaz, Mexico City’s tourism secretary, who organized the event. It also attracted 30,000 or so onlookers, many of whom were moving to the music as well.

Mexicans take their records seriously. Days after the “Thriller” event, mariachi musicians gathered in Guadalajara, where their traditional form of music first began, to beat the record for the most mariachi musicians ever gathered in one place. In all, 549 horn blowers, bassists and violinists turned out in suits and sombreros at the International Mariachi Festival, playing the classics “Cielito Lindo” and “Guadalajara.”

Mexico is a great land to visit.  It has great weather, friendly residents, lots of music and lots of fun.  Visit the Baja, a vacationer’s dream and Cabo Luxury Lifestyle will help you find a luxury rental in Villa La Estancia Resort or a private home or condo in Cabo San Lucas.  Private villa rentals in Cabo are quite the bargain these days.  Contact Cabo Luxury Lifestyle for more information.

Travel Could be Growing Again

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009
Now may be a good time to book those vacations.  The leisure travel industry has certainly felt the effects of the economic downturn experienced world wide. Travel in 2009 has been down considerably and prices have been reduced to compete in a frustrated travel industry.  For some time now, we have all been awaiting stop signs for a travel industry in freefall.  The time may be coming!
After the global economic meltdown, Silicon Valley investors had a tongue-in-cheek saying that ‘flat is the new up.’ By that definition, and taking into consideration the trends and data-the good news is that U.S. Travel is growing again!

Based on recent analysis from Piper Jaffray and Citibank, it can now be said that perhaps travel – and more specifically, leisure travel – may be bottoming out. This means prices could be rising in the near future. Prices for Holidays and 2010 could be adjusted upward.  The time is now to contact Cabo Luxury Lifestyle and rent that villa on Medano Beach in Cabo San Lucas!

Airfare Prices Going Down for Holidays

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Bing’s Travel experts predict airfare prices will drop for the Thanksgiving and the Christmas season as carriers deal with their worst year since at least 2005.   Airfare experts say this doesn’t usually happen, but as the economy slumps, fewer people are traveling.  Northwest started the rush Tuesday night with a broad holiday fare sale, and most other major carriers quickly matched the prices.

Bing Travel’s preliminary outlook for the 2009 holiday travel season shows a more traveler-friendly year in 2009 than the 2008 season. They forecast Thanksgiving travel prices down 22% and Christmas/New Year’s Eve travel down 22 percent from 2008.

“In last year’s holiday travel forecast I talked about the ‘perfect storm’ of record-high oil prices, fuel surcharges and very high airfare. Oh, how quickly things change,” said Bing Travel Fareologist Joel Grus. “As the economy fell into recession last fall, fares came down dramatically and have remained low through 2009. Airlines have cut capacity to the point that we will see pretty full planes, but at least for now, fares are still depressed. Early signs of a rebounding economy could increase consumer demand, pushing fares back up.”

Nationally, the average ticket for the most popular Thanksgiving itinerary — Wednesday departure, Sunday return — is $375, down $122 from last year. Travelers who can stay flexible with their Thanksgiving travel dates may be rewarded with savings; returning on Monday instead of Sunday can yield a savings of $35 per ticket.

Nationally, the ticket for the most popular Christmas itinerary — Wednesday departure, Sunday return — could cost $353 on average, down $49 from 2008. The opportunities for saving a significant amount by shifting travel a day or two are minimal for Christmas, except for traveling on Christmas Day, which saves about $45 per ticket.

A few Travel Tips from the experts:

• Watch October for holiday price drops. Since 2006, most Christmas itineraries saw price drops in the first two weeks of October. Bing Travel data suggests there are 50 percent more price drops during the holidays than other times of the year, so travelers are advised to set e-mail alerts to catch elusive deals.

• Avoid additional fees. When you’re shopping for flights, consider the total cost of your trip, including all of the extra charges that you’ll have to pay on some airlines and not others. Be sure to consider the airlines’ baggage fees and overweight fees, and consider bringing your own snacks on board to avoid paying extra.

• Travelers should buy now if they see a good fare. The likelihood of fares continuing to increase as we near the holiday season far outweighs the likelihood of fares dropping significantly. Particularly if a traveler has specific dates of travel, he should jump on the next good fare he sees.
