Q. Where is Villa La Estancia located?
A. Villa La Estancia is located on Medano Beach, which is the only swimmable beach in Cabo San Lucas. Villa La Estancia is only a mile from downtown Cabo San Lucas which you can walk to by road or beach. Also, you can take a water taxi or regular taxi for a minimum fee.

Q. Are there restaurants at Villa La Estancia?
A. Yes, you have quite a few restaurants to choose from within the Villa Group (3 adjacent resort properties including Villa La Estancia, Vila del Palmar and Villa del Arco). At Villa La Estancia, La Parilla is a poolside restaurant and is open for lunch. You can also order off the La Parilla menu, poolside or at the beach. The waiters are more than happy to bring your drink and lunch to your lounge chair. La Casona is an upscale restaurant with daily brunch and dinner service. Another option is Room Service or you can also hire you own private chef to prepare foods in the privacy of your own villa. There is also a version of an all-inclusive offering available.
In addition there are two restaurants at Villa del Palmar and three at Villa Del Arco, where you will have full signing privileges. Also, there is a deli located in the mini-mall within the Villa Group offering great sandwiches, salads, desserts and some hot prepared foods. Specialty coffee drinks and juices are also available. Right next door to the deli is a great ice cream stand. There are many wonderful restaurants along the beach or in downtown Cabo. See the Cabo San Lucas Restaurants list on our website.

Q. Can we use the facilities at Villa del Palmar and Villa Del Arco?
A. Yes, Villa La Estancia guests are allowed to use some of the facilities at both neighboring properties including the pools, restaurants, kids in paradise program, the Spa and Fitness Center and any of the resort activities.

Q. With a private rental, will I have the same privileges the owner has?
A. Yes, you will be a guest of the owner of the Villa and may use all of the facilities. A small charge may be added for lights at the tennis courts. The fitness center at Villa La Estancia is free. There is a charge for the fitness center at the Desert Spa at Villa Del Arco and, of course, for spa services. You will receive a 15% discount at the Desert Spa as a guest of the resort.

Q. Are there additional charges I should be prepared for in addition the ones listed above?
A. There is no charge for the high-speed Internet (in the villa) and the WiFi at the pool and min lobby areas. Additional charges include telephone calls, food, beverages, spa services, additional linens, special activities or services you schedule.

Q. Is there an all-inclusive option?
A. Yes. The charge for the Villa La Estancia resort only is $84.00 per person with a 50% discount for children. To utilize the 3-property Villa Group compound, the charge is $110.00 per person, 50% discount for children. Guests must sign up at the time of check-in and for a minimum of 3 consecutive days. Q. How do I get from the airport to Villa La Estancia?
A. The airport is located in San Jose del Cabo (SJD). It is about 40-45 minute drive to Villa La Estancia. We will gladly arrange an air conditioned, white Suburban to pick you up through a reliable company we use. They are also available as “personal drivers” for your convenience. They will be waiting for you with a sign after you come out from customs. They also provide cold water for your pleasure. Please contact us for other options.

Q. Do I need to rent a car?
A. No, most everything you will want to do is within walking distance or a short taxi ride. The taxi fare to Cabo San Lucas is approximately $8.00/one way for 4 people. It will be a bit more for additional passengers. Make sure to agree on a price when you enter the taxi. The service people, just outside the lobby of Villa La Estancia, will gladly call you a taxi. If you would like to rent a car and take a drive to other towns such as Todos Santos or San Jose, a car rental company is located in the lobby at Villa La Estancia. Villa La Estancia has underground parking for your convenience. If you would like a car for your entire trip, we recommend making arrangements prior to arrival. Most nationally known car rental companies are located at the airport.

Q. Is there a Concierge Service?
A. Yes, there is a Concierge located in the lobby and also around the pool and beach. They are there to assist you in making restaurant reservations or anything your heart desires.

Q. Is there a Spa and/or Fitness Center?
A. There is beautiful European Spa with a Fitness Center located directly next door to Villa La Estancia called the “Desert Spa”. Please click on the link under resort amenities for all the details. There is a fitness center at Villa La Estancia that is available at no charge to you. There is a small fee to use the fitness center at Desert Spa. Also, there is another Spa located at Villa del Palmar on the other side of Villa La Estancia.

Q. Are there tennis courts?
A. Yes, there are two private courts at Villa La Estancia located at the top of the Palmitta market Place. In addition, there are two courts at Villa del Palmar. Courts are free of charge. There is a small fee for request rental and light for night play. Sign up for drills with the pro.

Q. Is there a children’s program? Babysitting?
A. Yes, located at Villa del Palmar. They provide activities for children ages 4-12. Contact the front desk or the Concierge for babysitting.

Q. Is it safe to drink the water in Cabo?
A. The water supply for Los Cabos is well water. While many locals drink the water directly from the tap, multiple factors can lead to contamination. We recommend drinking only purified or bottled water.

Q. Are the beaches safe for swimming?
A. Medano beach and Lover’s Beach (bay side only) in Cabo San Lucas are probably the safest places to swim. The bays of Chileno and Santa Maria are usually safe, but be careful if there are any swells. The beaches on the Pacific side are unsuitable for swimming, as rogue waves and strong undertows are common. Many of the beaches in the San Jose del Cabo area are great for walking, horseback riding and shore fishing but not suitable for swimming. Always exercise caution, as there can be large swells during the summer, even in the Sea of Cortez. Always swim with a friend. Tell other people where you are going to swim and when you are expected to return. There are no lifeguards in Los Cabos. Beach resorts use a flag system to indicate water safety. Red indicates danger, yellow means caution, and green signifies the water conditions are safe.

Q. Will my cellular phone work in Cabo San Lucas?
A. Some cell services will allow you to roam in Mexico (roaming charges will apply). Call your provider before your trip to find out if service is available.

Q. Are ATM machines available?
A. Most banks have ATM machines for after-hour chas. Use ATM machines with caution, as you would at home.

Q. Are credit cards generally accepted?
A. All major credit cards are accepted in Los Cabos and in Mexico. Visa and MasterCard are the most widely accepted. American Express and Discover is accepted in a few stores and restaurants. Always ask if they accept credit cards. Many banks will give cash advances from your credit card.

Q. What is the legal drinking age in Mexico?
A. The legal drinking age is 18 years of age.

Q. Do I need to worry about crime in Los Cabos?
A. Crime is not a big problem in the resort areas of Los Cabos, but use common sense and caution, as you would anywhere you travel. Do not leave your valuables unattended on the beach. Use ATMs with the same vigilance you would at home. Absolutely avoid narcotics and firearms. If in trouble, ask to contact the US consulate.

Q. What medical services are available?
A. Cabo San Lucas has a new American-style (AmeriMed) hospital and some very competent doctors who speak English. Hospitals may no be equipped for severe trauma cases. Always check with your doctor if there is any doubt about traveling abroad. Before your trip, learn what your health insurance will cover overseas and consider investing in additional travel health insurance. Q. What are the entry requirements for Mexico?
A. On June 1, 2009, the US government will require all US citizens entering the United States via land, sea, or air to have a passport, passport card, or other travel document approved by the department of Homeland Security. We strongly recommend every traveler have a passport; if you don’t have one, allow a minimum of 6-8 weeks to obtain one.
Children: US citizen children under the age of 16 will be able to present the original or copy of their birth certificate, or other proof of US citizenship such as naturalization certificate or citizen card.
Air Travel: Passports are now required for US citizens traveling to or from all international destinations, including Mexico or Canada. Land & Sea Travel: US citizens returning home from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, or Bermuda, by land or sea, will be required to present one of the travel documents listed below:
